Mambo Leo [Swahili phrase] “What’s up today?”

Mamboleo Football Club is an adult co-ed soccer club and registered non-profit organization that brings together people from all walks of life through a common love of the beautiful game. With the help of our volunteer and player community, we provide free soccer training, organized league play, newcomer integration and assistance to those experiencing financial barriers to participating in soccer.

Established in 2022, our mission is to promote mental and physical health through soccer training, a shared sense of community and removing financial barriers to participation. We also partner with local businesses, community organizations, and artists in the Ottawa/Gatineau region to host unique cultural events, our annual charity tournament and regular social activities.

Over the past two years, Mamboleo FC has grown to over 40 members strong, and has raised and donated nearly $10,000 in support of charitable causes.

The Flamingo

The flamingo is one of the most distinctive and recognizable birds of the animal kingdom, with its long neck, exotic pink plumage, curved beak and gangly legs. They can be found on nearly every continent, including North and South America, southern Europe, Africa and parts of Asia. They love to congregate in large groups, where they have massive dance parties as part of their courtship routine.

Looks and social life aside, this bird is extremely tough, and can survive conditions ranging from sub-zero temperatures to boiling geysers and hypersaline lakes that could strip away human skin! There's definitely more than meets the eye when it comes to the flamingo, and this is why we have chosen it as the MAMBOLEO FC emblem - it embodies our values of international diversity, community, fun and resilience, with just that little bit of flair that every soccer player aspires to!
